Captain Phillips (film critique ) By: Cesar Reyes Torres

Captain Phillips (film) comes off as more of a documentary than a regular action movie based on real events. The Director (Paul Greengrass) chose to shoot the the entire movie using handheld cinematography, with the intention of giving the film a real life live action feel to the movie. But instead it made me dizzy and gave me a headache and gave me temporary motion sickness. After the film was over, many in the audience complained of the same affect because of the film. The camera is constantly shaking ALOT. So viewers beware if you easily get dizzy. Tom Hanks portrays Captain Phillips, but he is the only mainstream actor in the movie. Every other actor in the movie are all low key actors/extras. I didn't really take away anything from the film. It was all based on actual events, and the best acting happens at the end, and you get to see very raw and real emotion out of people. Everything prior to that just feels like a guy who got kidnapped and is reacting to being kidnapped. There is no in depth storyline, there is no character development . Over all it was an ok movie, but I probably wish I would have waited for it on Red Box or Netflix .

  1. Movie made me sick about halfway through. I had to close my eyes the my family could stay and watch the rest. Cold sweats and stomach flopping all over. Jet lag feel for the the rest of the evening. Not happy about going to the film.
